Most interesting. I'm guessing it's still a useful organ in some parts of the world. I'm especially intrigued by the over-infection of the appendix in the U.S. Is it all that antibacterial soap or all the processed food, or just that we hold a disproportionate share of the "western" world's population?
Good question. Speaking as a scientist (cough!), I would say probably all of the above.
